MCW nets 1st, 2nd at triangular

SHERBURN — Martin County West Mavericks boys golfer Tristan Rabbe medaled to help the host Mavericks to a triangular win against Madelia and Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther on Friday at Fox Lake Golf Course.

MCW’s Leah Amborn and the Blackhawks’ Taylor Tierney tied for medalist honors on the girls’ side as the Blackhawks and Mavericks finished first and second, respectively.

Rabbe shot a 38 to lead the Mavericks boys team to a first-place total of 178, while Tierney’s score of 54 allowed the Blackhawks girls team a winning score of 223. Amborn’s 54 allowed the Mavericks a second-best tally of 251.

Dawson Weber had a runnerup score of 41 for MCW, while Cam Ellanson penciled a nine-hole score of 59.

Carson Kahler finished with a 50 to round out the Mavericks’ counting scores. Nic Miller shot a 59 and Jarek Cutler recorded a 65.

Joe Fenske led the Blackhawks’ runnerup performance with a 43, and both Jared Henry and Cade Lunz shot 45s. Carson Wihlm shot a par-4 on the final hole to produce a 46.

Matt Baumgartner recorded a 48, while Colin Wihlm ended the day with a 52.

Parker Stevens tied with Fenske for the third-best score overall with a 43 as the Jaguars placed third. Mason Maloney was seven strokes behind with a 50, and Carter Spear marked a nine-hole score of 60.

Bailey May shot a 64 for a Jaguars’ team tally of 217. Brett Davis etched a 72 on his score card.

Jude Frelich produced a 55 and Ally Missling shot a 56 for the Blackhawks. Alayna Champlin generated Madelia’s final counting score of 58. Angelica Garcia shot a 61.

Mavericks golfers Skylar Tumbleson and Emily Matjka generated scores of 58 and 68, respectively. Kate Lyons rounded out the team’s counting scores with a 71.

Heather Trumphold finished with an 81 for Martin County West.

Kate Diegnau recorded a Jaguars-best 56 for a third-place team score of 275. Hanna Geistfeld tallied a 62. Kenlie Pytleski penciled a 70, and Anika Jensen contributed an 87.

Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther competes against Martin County West at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Fox Lake Golf Course in Sherburn. Madelia hosts Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther and Mountain Lake Area in a triangular at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at Madelia City Park in Madelia.

Blue Earth Area 219, Maple River 268 (girls) — Mateja Lane generated medalist honors with a 49 as the Bucs took a nonconference win over the Eagles on Friday at Riverside Town & Country in Blue Earth.

Malarie Scholtes and Claire Jordan both shot 53s, and Olivia Stewart rounded out the Bucs’ counting scores with a 61. Olivia Meyers and Serina Wirth ended the meet with 64s.

Kate Larson topped the Eagles with a 52. Taylor Schnoor shot a 65, while Lauren Mass was a stroke behind with a 66. Samantha Kunkel penciled a 73 for the Eagles’ final counting tally.

Blue Earth Area faces New Ulm in a dual meet at 4 p.m. Monday in New Ulm.

Maple River 169, Blue Earth Area 171 (boys) — The Eagles edged the Bucs by two strokes nonleague action on Friday at Riverside Town & Country in Blue Earth.

Andrew Hoppe birdied on the third and sixth hole to garner a medalist score of 36 for Maple River. Evan Klein shot a 41, Mason Sohre recorded a 43 and Grant Klein penciled a 43.

Manning Lane recorded four pars for a Bucs-low 40. Hunter Spencer shot three pars with a birdie for a score of 41.

Braden Gudahl and Gaven Bruellman each contributed 45s to BEA’s counting scores. Tate Thielfoldt and Kohl Jacobsen finished with a 52 and 58, respectively.

Blue Earth Area plays at New Ulm on Monday.
