Impact of referendum for MCW community To the Editor: Hello, MCW community. The school board has placed two questions on a referendum ballot for a special election May 14, 2024. Early voting begins March 29 at the MCW central office. We are a group of volunteers, of all ages, from every community in the school district. Thoughts on abortion legislature To the Editor: Our state legislature is dominated by the Democratic Party at this time. In committee, they have been attempting to codify abortion into our state constitution. Since there is no committee hearing being offered on this subject, they are attaching this to their ERA [equal rights amendment]. How on earth can you call for an equal rights amendment and condoning murdering a child, even unto the date of birth?? Support Knights of Columbus auction event To the Editor: It’s almost here...the annual Knights of Columbus Silent/Live Auction. This year it will be held Saturday, April 6, in the gym at St. John Vianney School, starting at 6 p.m. There will be a variety of items to bid on based on your preference and proceeds will benefit CREST as well as Arc/Martin County People First. The Knights work very hard to put on this event with a lot of manpower going into the fundraiser. Won’t you come out and join us for a night of fun? Educational decisions impacting taxes To the Editor: My kids and grandkids are in school districts far away, so I’m not afraid to speak at a board meeting or offer my opinions. Retaliation is possible, it happened, and I know that it continues. This is one of the reasons why more people don’t attend school board meetings or voice their opinions. I have been asked, “Why are you wasting your time talking to the school board?
