County EDA prioritizes housing
Martin County EDA has identified housing as a top priority for the county and is encouraging communities to undergo housing studies in order to figure out what type of housing they need. It would be a good investment of communities to go through with these studies because as was pointed out, first time home owners and senior citizens have different needs when it comes to housing.
Council debates merits of ice
This week the Fairmont City Council approved officially putting $1.5 million of budgeted funds toward a new ice compressor needed at the Martin County Arena. The conversation has been ongoing and somewhat controversial. While it’s a necessary expense– as the city council clearly saw– the question of where funds from the county and the hockey association are remains.
Area orchards offer taste of fall
Today our two local orchards, Center Creek Orchard and Timberlake Orchard, open for the season. Along with apples, each orchard offers a variety of activities and goodies. We’re fortunate to have these orchards in our community and we encourage people to take advantage of their offerings by visiting this fall.
FHS boasts 47 unique activities
This school year Fairmont High School is providing its students with the chance to partake in any number of 47 different activities, ranging from athletics and fine arts to dramas and clubs. How great that our students have so many offerings to choose from, which no doubt give them the opportunity to find something they love and meet new friends. We hope every students gets involved in one of these activities.
