Kinship plans community resiliency courses

Thank you, Kinship of Martin County, for bringing resiliency courses to our community. One of the courses is being held at Gomsrud Park today and instructors from Crime and Self Protection Awareness Advisors will teach children safety skills. Today’s event is done in cooperation with Chain Lake Lodge as Kinship has a goal of partnering with other organizations for the courses. Again, thank you, Kinship, for bringing in such a nice assortment of courses.

Board considers park pieces

The Fairmont Park Board this week heard a presentation from a company that makes pieces like benches and planters out of recycled wind turbine blades. The company, Canvus, said there’s a welcome kit and that Fairmont could get a piece at no cost. What a creative idea that would make a nice addition to or parks and/or walking paths.

Camp aims to involve girls in STEM

This past week a new Martin County girls robotics camp was held at Cedar Creek Park in Fairmont. The camp was a group effort between multiple local organizations. It’s always nice when groups with a similar cause and purpose can partner together, especially when it’s providing something valuable for our youth. We hope to see camps like this continue in the future.
