Trig team earns high score

Congratulations to Fairmont High School’s Trig Star team for recently placing second at a regional competition, which was sponsored by the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors. It’s great that the students have the opportunity to see the work they’re doing applied as an actual career.

New owners keep business growing

Congratulations to Austin Philipp and Anna Mundahl, the new owners of Janzen’s Greenhouse in Fairmont. Congratulations are also in order for long-time owners Jon and LaNette Janzen, who ran the successful and beloved greenhouse for decades. It’s safe to say the community and surrounding area is excited to have the greenhouse remain here in Fairmont.

Second joint work session held

At a joint work session discussing the community center this week, the idea to add a day care in the facility was brought up and talked about for at least an hour. We need to move forward with this project without adding a daycare as council is past the of point of redesigning the facility. As was said during Tuesday’s meeting, more community support is needed to help finish up the daycare space at Lakeview, which will add an additional 100 child care spots.

Ceylon Legion disbands

Thank you, Ceylon Legion members for your many years of service. The legion there has proven to be an integral part of not only Ceylon, but Martin County. Hopefully all of the members find other posts to go to and can keep up the good work.
