FHS plans another polar plunge

This coming Monday, Fairmont High School will host another polar plunge. This fun event raises funds for Special Olympics. It seems like there’s already a good number of people, both students, staff and community members, who are registered for the event. Despite the frigid temperatures Monday will bring, the event will no doubt be fun and meaningful.

Robotics to attend world competition

Fairmont High School’s robotics team recently did well enough at a regional competition to qualify for the world competition, which will take place next month in Houston, Texas. There the team will compete against other teams from all over the world. Congratulations to the team for its outstanding work this season and good luck to all participants.

SPEC addresses staff shortage

Southern Plains Education Cooperative has formed a new committee in order to improve teacher retention and recruitment. This is a great effort on SPEC’s part to recruit and maintain staff during a worsening teacher shortage. SPEC has also taken the initiative to highlight the accomplishments of its teachers by presenting them an award each month.
