Chamber names 2022 businesses of the year

Congratulations to Five Lakes Media, Fairmont 5 Theatres, The Fairmont Opera House and Dan’s Appliance who each won in their respective categories for the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce’s business of the year awards. We thank these businesses for their presence in and dedication to Fairmont and the surrounding communities.

Council moves forward with ice work

Earlier this week the Fairmont City Council voted to reallocate $850,000 of the funds earmarked for Gomsrud Park improvements, and to take $1.1 million of the $14 million raised in local option sales tax, and put it toward a new ice compressor for the Martin County Arena. It seems like there are several groups that should also be contributing to the project, such as the Fairmont Hockey Association and the county.

SPEC leadership wins award

Dr. Sarah Mittelstadt, director of Southern Plains Education Cooperative, has been selected as the 2023 special education administrator of the year. Congratulations, Sarah, on receiving this award and thank you for all that you do in our community to help our special education students and their families.
