Citizen involvement

The city of Fairmont is currently seeking applications for various boards and commissions. Please consider applying if you’re at all interested in getting involved and getting Fairmont on a better track. People can apply through the city’s website at fairmont.org.

School board levy

At the most recent Fairmont School Board meeting, the board discussed Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) results. Last year Fairmont students performed below average in all three areas. While this is unfortunate and is likely due to a number of reasons, it’s good that the board plans to dive deeper and investigate the cause of the discrepancies and come up with a plan on how to proceed and help students achieve better.

FHS focus on Spanish

This year Fairmont High School teachers and staff have been taking the time to undergo brief Spanish lessons. These lessons are taught by Melinda Stewart and Abe Sepulveda. What a great idea for continuing education for our teachers that will also help them be able to better connect with and communicate with all students.
