Fairmont Schools honors teacher
Congratulations to Fairmont High School’s Spanish teacher, Melinda Stewart, who has been named this school year’s teacher of the year. Thank you, Melinda, for your continued efforts in educating and empowering our young people and showing them the value of different views and diversity.
Program adds childcare providers
The Prosper Project, a program funded by the Schmeeckle Foundation, has added three new in-home childcare providers over the past few months. The program also launched a substitute program to help existing providers when they need a few hours or a day off. The Prosper Project is helping to fill a great need in our community and we’re excited to see more progress be made.
Chamber encourages shopping local
Today is Small Business Saturday, a day set aside to promote shopping from local small businesses during the holiday season. The Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce provided a great reminder that our local retailers give back to our community and that shopping local generates sales tax that goes back into projects for the community. Before leaving town to shop this weekend, check out what our local stores have to offer!
