Chamber names new president

Congratulations to Kandi Menne for being named the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce’s new President. Menne has worked at the chamber for over seven years. She knows the ins and outs of what the chamber does and will serve us well.

‘4 Under 40’ honorees named

Also congratulations to this year’s 4 under 40 recipients. Acknowledging our young leaders is a great way to say thank you and encourage other young adults to step up and into a leadership role.

Officials elected in Martin County

Many new and returning leaders were voted in this past week during the general election. These people will lead our area school districts and communities. Congratulations and good luck to each of them.

Groups discuss community center

Fairmont City Council members embarrassed themselves at Wednesday’s joint work session discussing the community center. They were surrounded by the organizations involved in bringing a community center to Fairmont yet they bickered and made uninformed comments and put the city in a bad light.
