Fairmont Schools launch ‘Community Days’

Last week Fairmont Area Schools held the first of its Cardinal Community Days, a new program that allows students in the district to work more independently. Students can opt to do school work from home or remain in the school building to get extra help from teachers. These days also provide opportunities for community members to come in and put on specialized programming. This is a great, innovative way for kids to learn and we’re excited to see what the next sessions bring.

MCW FFA sees success

Congratulations to members of the Martin County West FFA team who did well at the national competition in Indianapolis late last month. Four students on the agribusiness management team placed in the top fifth and another student received her American FFA Degree. What a great showing.

City seeks input for Gomsrud

The city of Fairmont is currently seeking a final round of input regarding features the community would like to see at Gomsrud Park. The city is giving you the opportunity to share your thoughts and is interested in knowing how the community would use the park. You can take the survey through Nov. 9 at fairmont.org.
