FOH show centered on body positivity

This weekend The Fairmont Opera House is putting on a unique community theater show. “The Most Massive Woman Wins” has a different subject matter that focuses on body issues. It’s also a black box style performance that allows for a more intimate experience between the small, local cast and audience. We expect to see more shows like this from The Fairmont Opera House in the future.

FHS celebrates new addition

This past week, Fairmont High School held a ribbon cutting for its new vocational center. The event happened one year after the groundbreaking for the $6.7 million facility. This was a great investment for our youth which will allow them to explore different areas including agriculture and building trades. Considering the amount of skilled workers the state needs to replace in the coming years, this seems like a win-win project.

Program connects students to careers

Fairmont Economic Development Authority (FEDA) and the Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce have just launched CareerWise, a program featuring six local sponsoring businesses that will work with students who have just graduated and are eager to get into the workforce. This is a great idea to invest in our young graduates and provide them opportunities to stay local and work for area employers.
