Sathoff given Achievement Award

Fairmont woman, Lakyn Sathoff, was recently recognized by the National Community Action Partnership and given the 2022 Sargent Shriver Personal Achievement Award. Lakyn attended a ceremony in New York earlier this month with Minnesota Valley Action Council Family Resource Coordinator, Tammie Hested. Congratulations to Lakyn on earning this award and for being an example on how to turn your life around and be a positive source of encouragement to others.

FHS student joins youth council

Dominick Lund-May, a sophomore at Fairmont High School, has been designated as a representative for Minnesota Congressional District 1 on the Minnesota Youth Council. It’s nice to see our youth interested in learning about government policies and the process. Lund-May will participate in his first meeting next month.

FEDA OKs housing development

This week the Fairmont Economic Development Authority approved a preliminary agreement with Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership for the development of several twin homes covering eight residential lots at Whitetail Ridge. It’s great that these lots will be developed and that some more family homes will be built in town as housing options have been lacking in Fairmont.

Going into fall, Covid still a concern

Martin County continues to have one of the highest Covid case rates in the state of Minnesota. Going into fall, people need to remember to exercise caution and stay home when they’re sick and get tested if they’re feeling under the weather.
