New business focuses on skin

Congratulations to Southern Minnesota Skin Solutions, which opened earlier this week in Fairmont. The business, owned by McKenzie Terfehr, will fill a need in the community as we’ve been lacking dermatology services for quite some time. We wish you good luck in your new endeavor!

Council hears SMEC proposal

This week the Fairmont City Council heard a presentation from Citizens 4 A Strong Fairmont, which proposed usage of the Southern Minnesota Educational Campus as a community center. We appreciate the idea of using an existing building to fill a need in the community and have no doubt Community Education and Recreation, which is currently housed there, would be able to facilitate the programming.

Local youth to perform in ‘Shrek’

Today kicks off the performance of “Shrek the Musical Jr.” at The Fairmont Opera House. About 20 young actors will play a part in this show that’s no doubt to be fun. Along with practicing, the kids have had the opportunity to learn about other aspects of theater such as costume and prop design. What a fun opportunity for our youth. Good luck this weekend!

Event to share breastfeeding info

On Monday Public Health and Human Services of Faribault and Martin Counties will be at the Martin County Library in Fairmont to share information about breastfeeding and pumping. This is a great opportunity for mothers, health care professionals and anyone else to learn more about this important act. We hope people take advantage of this free offering.
