Ceylon ready for broadband project

The Ceylon City Council has been working with Federated Rural Electric Association on a project to install fiber internet to the city’s residents. This is an exciting project because it will provide the residents of Ceylon with some of the best internet access in the county. Congratulations to all involved in this project which is meeting an overdue need.

Navy bell dedicated at MCVM

On July 4th, a Navy bell, donated by Woody and Joane Woodward, was dedicated at the Martin County veterans Memorial in Fairmont. This is another great addition to the MCVM, which is quickly becoming a destination for veterans and civilians alike to visit.

Fairmont PD intern gains insight

Shaylynn Anderson is the Fairmont Police Department/Martin County Sheriff’s Office summer intern. Anderson, a graduate of Martin County West, is currently attending Minnesota State University-Mankato, where she’s studying Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement. This is such a great program our local department offers which provides valuable experience. We hope Shaylynn is enjoying her time and learning a lot!

Art classes popular among youth

The Red Rock Center for the Arts in Fairmont just wrapped up a three week art program for young children. The program allowed children to really experiment with different mediums of art and work on a variety of projects. Thanks to the Red Rock Center and instructor Jen Wedel for offering a program that allows our youth to explore their creativity.
