Let’s Go Fishing is in its 13th year of taking out seniors, veterans and the disabled on Fairmont’s lakes. The group is made up of about 40 volunteers all who make these trips possible and we’d like to thank them for their dedication.
Relay for Life ready for 30th year
Today is the annual Martin County Relay for Life, which will take place from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Martin County Fairgrounds in Fairmont. After two non-traditional years, it’s nice to have the event return in full force this year. We hope there’s a good turnout and a lot of money raised, which will go to the American Cancer Society.
Charter Commission reviews ballot questions
This week the Fairmont Charter Commission, which is made up of lay-people, debated and ultimately voted 8-4/9-3 to re-word ballot questions which were prepared by the city attorney. Some members thought the questions were too long but we agree with Jim Zarling who said he thought the Charter Commission should do the best job it can to inform the voters.
3M celebrates 75 years in Fairmont
Congratulations to 3M in Fairmont on its 75th anniversary, which is being celebrated this weekend. Thank you to the company for investing in our community and for the support its given countless organizations and events. We look forward to the next 75 years.
