House burn provides training

A recent controlled house burn provided training for some soon-to-be firefighters. The burn is not only required for new members to undergo as part of their training but provides training for other members as well. We’d like take this time to thank all of our local departments for the services they provide.

Class takes students to new heights

Fairmont High School’s Principles of Flight class continues to grow with interested students signing up for the elective course. What a great opportunity it is for our youth to explore aviation and get a chance to go up in the air.

Community asked to ‘help neighbors’

Earlier this week Fairmont Police Chief Michael Hunter provided some information about the departments new “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” program. The program asks for volunteers to help their neighbors by disposing of large unwanted items during the upcoming city-wide cleaning days. We hope the program sees good participation.

Hog statues unveiled

The 34 hog statues of Going Hog Wild in Martin County’s project were unveiled this week. The event was well attended and provided the opportunity for artists and sponsoring businesses to meet. Thanks to Jeff Rouse and Alex Young-Williams and all involved for kicking off this project with intentions to promote the county. We look forward to seeing the statues sprinkled around the county.
