Council hears appeal for Ambiance addition
This week the Fairmont City Council heard the appeal of a variance request. Ambiance on Albion had asked to put a shipping container against the bluff of Hall Lake in order to offer snacks and drinks to boaters in the summer months. The council heard from owner Troy Menke, as well as from Peter Bode, planner/code enforcement technician, and from a member of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. We’re glad the council is gathering information. Let’s try and make this work.
ECI looks to partner for community events
The Early Childhood Initiative would like to partner with other like-minded organizations in the area in order to offer more programs for families with young children. ECI Chair, Michelle Rosen, said the idea behind this came from the long-successful Family Fun Fair. Rather than hold the one-night event, she and other board members would like to offer fun programs throughout the whole year. We think this sounds like it could be beneficial for all programs involved and for our many young families.
Tree planting project goes to Park Board
The Fairmont Park Board heard from two men this week regarding a tree planting project they would like to get started along the Highway 15 corridor. We’re glad the Park Board was on board with the idea. It sounds like a great way to beautify the area and leave something positive for future generations.
Foundation enters into agreement with YMCA
On Thursday the Fairmont Area Community Center Foundation announced it had entered into a consulting agreement with the YMCA. This is a big move toward getting a community center in Fairmont. We want to thank the members of the Foundation for their hard work on getting to this point. We’re excited to see how things progress from here.
