MRCI on the move
MRCI is a great program that helps find employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. While they don’t have a physical building in Fairmont anymore, they’ve been utilizing space inside local businesses for daily activities. What an excellent way to get out and be seen in the community.
City hears about state building code
This past week members of the Fairmont City Council held an informational session with a member from the State regarding building codes and the enforcement, administration and application of it. We’re glad this meeting took place as it showed how complicated the topic is. We appreciate that Mr. Wheeler offered to send some people down to look into how Fairmont is administering the code. We think the city should take advantage of this.
Workshop provides theater exploration
Fairmont Opera House is offering a new Youth Theater Workshop. These classes show youth the many different aspects of theater, including set creation, dancing and lighting. As Samantha Rosenberg, head of the program, said, theater can help boost self-confidence and provide different opportunities for students and we hope parents take advantage of this offering.
Shop local this holiday season
Today is Small Business Saturday. What a great time to get out and check out what our area stores have to offer. As Fairmont Area Chamber of Commerce President, Ned Koppen, said, it’s easy for locals to forget what their own community has to offer. We hope our readers will be intentional about supporting small businesses in Martin County during the holiday shopping season and beyond.
