New Mural

promotes downtown

A new mural in the first block of Downtown Plaza was completed last weekend and it looks great. The interactive mural is a nice addition to the appearance of downtown and even features over 20 local businesses. We hope to see more of this in the downtown area.

Rental Ordinance

This week the Fairmont City Council looked at the rental housing ordinance again. We’re glad that the council is taking the thoughts of local landlords into consideration. We agree with council member Michele Miller questioning whether the current ordinance is being enforced. A new ordinance won’t do much good if it isn’t being enforced. The council was wise to table the issue.

Local youth host haunted house

A group of local youth have created a haunted house for the community which will be open tonight and Sunday night. This is a fun Halloween activity for all and a great learning experience for the kids on planning and budgeting. Nice work!

Business gets solar panels

Fairmont Ford has installed solar panels on the roof of its building. This is a great way to save energy and will be a cost savings to the business as well. It will be interesting to see if any other area businesses are able to follow suit.
