Britney Kawecki
Hats off to Britney Kawecki for her dedication to promoting Fairmont. Utilizing professional drone footage, Kawecki is in the process of making a series of videos to highlight all that Fairmont has to offer. We appreciate that she is making the videos open for all to share, which is sure to lead to far more coverage than any one entity could provide.
We also like that Kawecki is focusing on all the different aspects of our community. The videos will cover not only recreation but will highlight things unique to Fairmont and Martin County, such as the Martin County Veterans Memorial. In addition, they will cover our local law enforcement and emergency workers, churches, and much more. We look forward to seeing more videos soon, available on Kawecki's Facebook page.
CER
We also want to congratulate Stephanie Busiahn on her appointment as the new director of Fairmont's Community Education and Recreation. Busiahn began July 1 of this year, and we appreciate her focus on the growth of our community. We agree with Busiahn that being centrally located in the Southern Minnesota Educational Campus near Fairmont's Downtown is a great move for the CER office, and are glad that it can play a part in revitalizing the downtown area.
School Donation
We would like to say a great big thank you to Jeff and Sue Greischar for their recent donation of $70,000 for the Fairmont High School's new vocational building. That's a huge investment in the future of our students, and one we know will pay off in the long run. We agree with Jeff's statement that both students and businesses will benefit greatly from the programs that will be offered.
School Preparation
A new school year is fast approaching and we applaud the efforts being made to plan for student safety. Concerns about COVID are legitimate, and we think the school is doing the right thing by waiting and getting all the facts on wearing masks and how to best provide a good learning experience for our kids.
