Church Anniversary
Congratulations to the congregation of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell on the celebration of their 150th anniversary. The celebration kicks off at 2 p.m. today with a concert featuring Glenn Henriksen. On Sunday there will be special services and times of food and fellowship to commemorate the occasion.
We agree with Dale Knuth, who stated that it is good to see churches celebrating such anniversaries at a time when many others are closing their doors for good.
Elm Creek Veggies
Kudos to Dean Maschoff whose farm, Elm Creek Veggies, was featured in a recent tour in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Southwest Regional Sustainable Development Partnership, from which Maschoff received a grant.
Meant to highlight and promote agroforestry and science-based solutions and practical education, the tour showed off Maschoff’s impressive operation. Begun as a hobby in 2012, Maschoff’s farm has turned into a full-fledged business.
Kinship Auction
Likewise, we congratulate Kinship of Martin County on their dedication to hosting the always popular rummage sale and industrial auction again this year. We know that several businesses participate, often offering a variety of items. We also know that the funding goes to a great cause, helping the youth of Martin County to more fully enjoy the mentorship program.
Hats off to Char Kahler, Nancy Nordstrom, and everyone else involved.
COVID-19
It appears that Covid cases are surging once again. We are thankful for those who have received the vaccine, and we urge those who haven’t done so to consider the necessity of it. Now is the time to play it safe. Wash your hands, be wary of crowds, and if you’re not vaccinated, wear a mask. School is right around the corner, and we’d hate to see any big spreader events.
