Et Cetera …

Garden Club

Kudos to The City of Lakes Garden Club in Fairmont, which has stuck together for the past 80 plus years. Working to educate and encourage all forms of horticulture in the community, the club is hosting a plant swap and garden party from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. today at Lincoln Park.

Every year they choose an organization to donate money or plants to. In the past, they have donated trees to different city parks for Arbor Day. They have also donated money for flower baskets that hang along city roads.

This year for their civic project, the group planted a champagne cup at Lakeside Cemetery. The club is a great way to keep people involved in the community, and we appreciate their focus on education.

Fareway

Congratulations to Fareway for being the Minnesota Growers Association Bag Hunger Campaign champion for 2020. Thanks to their efforts to engage, the public was able to pull together and help support those in need. In addition, the store was able to donate $500 to Heaven’s Table Food Shelf, which furthers that goal. Well done.

FHS Graduates

Congratulations are also in order for the graduating class of 2021. They went through an awful lot over the past two years, with everyday life upended in a way none of us would have imagined only a couple of years ago. But they persevered, pushed through, and now they’re ready to move on to the next stage in life. We look forward to seeing what they can accomplish.

City Band

We were glad to hear that the City Band Concerts will be back on the table this year. It’s another sign of things returning to normal. The band has been a huge hit with people in years past, and it gives us all an excuse to get outside and enjoy some local entertainment.

Starting at $2.99/week.
