Winter sports start

Monday, January 4th, Minnesota High School Winter sports practices resume. The long-awaited start of high school sports has arrived. Extracurricular activities are such a vital high school experience for many. The social connections and life lessons learned in practices, competition, and in the locker room are invaluable. We wish the athletes, coaches, and parents well in the return to high school extra-curricular activities.

We can only hope to avoid any setbacks following the Christmas and New Year’s break.

4 Under 40

Congratulations to Blake Potthoff, Laura Olsen, Kaleena Wiens, and Benjamin Landsteiner for being recognized as up and coming leaders in our community. Erik Karre, District Director for the Boy Scouts of America Twin Valley Action Council helped form the “4 Under 40” group and put together a committee of people to start this group. The winners and several others were nominated by their peers in the community.

Thank you Erik for recognizing the value of young leaders and putting this program together that will annually honor future leaders of our community between the ages of 18-40.

Prosper Project

Thanks to a $250,000 grant from the Schmeeckle Foundation, a new project, the “Prosper Project,” is underway to both recruit new child care providers and sustain existing providers. When families are attempting to work, available childcare is a vital part of the process. Childcare providers also need help. Thank you to the very generous Schmeeckle Foundation for getting this type of help to those who need it.
