More “swampy” stuff
To the editor:
Trump campaigned in 2024 that he would “drain the swamp” in D.C. Here’s just a few things he actually has done:
Accepted a $400 million jet from Qatar, in direct violation of federal regulations.
Accepted millions from private donors for his ballroom project. He did not attain permission from the National Trust for Historic Preservation to drop its lawsuit. Now, congressional Republicans have proposed allocating $1 billion taxpayer funds for underground security for the ballroom. Sells merchandise (merch) like a rock band, look up the Trump phone. Directed the US Department of Justice to bring charges: former FBI director James Comey, N.Y. prosecutor Letitia James, Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell, Governor Tim Walz, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, California state to block its fuel economy standards.
But here are two that top all others combined:
Donald is trying to substitute the US Government (under the Westfall Act) in his defamation case, he lost to E Jean Carroll. Trump was ordered to pay Carroll $83.3 million. In other words, the US Gov. would pay on his behalf. Donald filed a lawsuit suing the Department of Treasury for $10 billion. This suit was for the leaking of past federal tax filings. He also filed administrative claims seeking over $230 million from the DOJ tied to the investigation into his 2016 and the Mar-A-Lago investigation of classified documents he removed from the White House after his first term. Trump said, “It’s interesting”, “It’s awfully strange to be making a decision where I’m paying myself”. Trump recently said he would drop both lawsuits if the government would create a fund of $1.8 billion to compensate anyone harmed by the Biden Justice Department. His requirements are as follows: it would be run by a commission that Trump can fire anytime, it is not required to disclose how it is run or how it makes its decisions.
I will use my power of the vote Nov. 3, 2026, to create a positive change.
