Hockey is thankful

To the Editor:

It’s that time of the year where winter sports are winding down and I wanted to say congratulations to the teams that advanced to the regional youth hockey tournaments this week. First, I want to say thank you to all our volunteers, parents, coaches, arena staff, CER and board members. Without the help of all these people, Fairmont Youth Hockey Association (FYHA) would not be possible. It’s exciting to see over 250 different kids on the ice every week. From CER “Learn to Skate,” grade school classes, 4H groups, youth groups, Rock on Ice, Old timers, and FYHA players, it definitely is a community organization.

Second, I want to say thank you to all of our arena sponsors, sign sponsors, dasher board sponsors, and team sponsors. Without the help of all these local businesses, FYHA would not be possible. It’s great to see every weekend when we have games and tournaments, the business and revenue that it brings into the local community.
