Community ‘Christmas
Carol’ reading
To the Editor:
Last Thursday evening, a group of six people shared reading the Charles Dicken’s story, “A Christmas Carol” to an attentive audience. The reading took place at the Red Rock Center for the Arts. The purpose of the reading is to raise funds for the Heaven’s Table Food Shelf in Fairmont.
The event was well attended and the crowd was appreciative. Four students from the Fairmont High School Orchestra played holiday tunes before the reading. The appearance of Marley’s ghost was accompanied by ringing bells and heavy rattling chains. People ate cookies and drank hot apple cider during intermission.
We want to thank everyone for their support of this reading. This is the third annual community read of “A Christmas Caro,l” the first was in 2018, the second in 2019.
This year the event received generous support from the American Legion Lee C. Prentice Post 36 here in Fairmont. We want to thank the Legion for its generosity. We are looking forward to the next “A Christmas Carol” in December, 2022.
