Thanks for the support

To the Editor:

On behalf of Heaven’s Table Food Shelf, I’d like to thank so many folks for helping us to make it possible to bring some extra food drops to our area. We just couldn’t do it without such wonderful community support.

Fabulous volunteers — school students, teachers past and present, retired folks, active community supporters, fellow board members, friends and family — all gather to “spend” their valuable time with us.

Support from organizations such as Fairmont schools, Martin County Fair Board, Mayo Clinic and Harrison Truck Services help to make these drops possible. Thank you for helping to support your neighbors.

While we always hope everything will go off without a hitch, Tuesday, Aug. 11, tested us thoroughly. We apologize to all of the folks who so patiently waited for the trucks to arrive for our distribution.

And, as we found at the end of the distribution, you also were coping with the cucumbers that were at end of life in your produce boxes. We are at the mercy of our provider and product is to come ready to give. Second Harvest has confirmed that it is working on the issues we experienced last week. We hope you enjoyed the rest of the product given out.
