Israel could pledge peace too

To the Editor:

The Sentinel editorial for Thursday, May 23, 2019, should have included a period under the headline: “If Palestinians want aid, they should pledge peace” Underneath, they should have included: “If Israelis want aid, they should pledge peace as well.”

I am a supporter of Israel, and in Israel I have talked with people who strongly opposed moving the capital from Tel Aviv because it would be a source of trouble with the Palestinians. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s move to claim the Golan Heights for Israel and to declare Jerusalem a Jewish city has also caused both Israeli Christians and Muslims great concerns.

It is time for the United States to work toward peace between Israel and the Palestinians and in the Middle East. Maybe our staunch ally should be held accountable as well.
