Streamed games are great
To the Editor:
Thumbs up to Fairmont High School and Gemini Studios for streaming girls basketball games. These streamed games are wonderful for us grandparents who cannot make all the games. We are the grandparents of Cadence Becker.

Coalition offers thanks
To the Editor:
On behalf of the Martin County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, we would like to thank the city council members of Truman, Granada and Fairmont as well as the Martin County commissioners for adopting social host ordinances as part of ongoing efforts to keep our young people safe from the dangers of underage drinking and the unsafe behavior that typically goes along with it.
This ordinance imposes criminal responsibility upon persons for hosting or allowing a gathering at which alcoholic beverages are present and an underage person consumes alcohol and when the person fails to take reasonable steps to prevent such consumption. Hosting or allowing means to conduct, entertain, organize, supervise, control or permit a gathering of three or more persons. An underage person is any individual younger than 21 years of age.
This ordinance does not apply to conduct solely between an underage person and his or her parents in the parents’ household, and it does not apply to legally protected religious observances.
For more information about the ordinance or how you can get involved with our coalition to help prevent underage use and abuse of alcohol, marijuana and other drugs in Martin County, please visit our website at: www.mcsapcoalition.com
