To the Editor:

Last Wednesday evening, the sun peeked through the clouds to warm those who gathered at Veterans Park in Fairmont for a Multi-Block Party.

A longtime neighbor of the park commented that he had not seen so many children playing together in the park since the old school was there. Tables were filled with friends, old and new, enjoying the evening. Even after the display tables were packed up and taken away, children were still playing games together in the park.

Thanks to everyone who came to Veterans Park for a pleasant evening. Whether you joined us for dinner, shared at an organization’s display table, provided live entertainment, or donated items, we could not have had such a great time together without you.

Thanks especially to the city of Fairmont Parks and Recreation Department, which moved extra picnic tables to the park, put fresh bark in the play area, painted a fresh coat of paint on the flag pole, and were involved in working out the logistics of this enjoyable night in the park.
