Legislature back in session — reviewing every proposal
We are officially back in session in Saint Paul, and while it is always an honor to serve our community at the Capitol, I am reminded of a saying I’ve heard many times over the years, “The only time I fear for my freedom is when my government is in session.”
That phrase resonates because it reflects something many Minnesotans feel…concern about overreach, rising costs and decisions being made that impact your family, your paycheck and your future.
When the Legislature gavels in, hundreds of bills are introduced. Some are thoughtful and necessary. Others grow government, increase mandates, and make life more expensive for the very people we represent. My job is to carefully review each proposal and ask a simple question: Does this protect or restrict the freedoms and opportunities of the people in our district?
This session, House Republicans are committed to:
1. Stopping the fraud
2. Making Minnesota affordable
3. Making Minnesota safe
4. Raising standards, reducing mandates
5. Minnesota tax dollars for Minnesotans
6. Building for the future
Our founders designed a system of checks and balances for a reason. It is our responsibility to ensure laws expand opportunity rather than restrict it.
As your representative, I take the duty seriously to be a voice for common sense, fiscal responsibility, and freedom. Government works best when it works within its proper role, and when it remembers that it serves you, not the other way around.
Please continue reaching out with your thoughts, concerns, and ideas. The best way to protect our freedoms is to stay engaged.
It is good to be back serving our district, and I will continue working to ensure that when government is in session, your rights and your voice are protected.
