Royal passed away Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Royal Dean Redenius was born June 22, 1934, on the family farm in Rolling Green Township, Martin County, Minn., the son of Edward and Dorothy (Kasten) Redenius. Royal attended country school in Rolling Green Township and at the age of 14, following the death of his father, he began working on the farm to help his family.

Feeling a call to serve his country, Royal enlisted in the United States Army on July 14, 1954, where he served his country proudly during the Korean War. On June 4, 1956, Royal received his honorable discharge and returned home to Minnesota.

On April 27, 1957, Royal was united in marriage to Bonnie Rabe. The couple made their home on the family farm and were blessed with two children, Lorie and Troy.

Royal was blessed to farm for 78 years working in the field alongside his brother Eddie until 2001, when Eddie retired and his son Troy, who carried on the partnership until just days before his passing. He had a kind and caring spirit and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Royal has a subtle sense of humor that brought out laughter from those that knew him best. For over 30 years, Royal and Bonnie spent their winter months in Fort Myers, Fla., where Royal loved spending the warm winter months participating in one of his favorite hobbies, golfing. While on a trip to Florida, he had the opportunity to cruise the Caribbean, and the area quickly became a favorite destination for he and Bonnie. During his off time in the summer, Royal looked forward to trips to Alaska, and he treasured time spent with family and friends at backyard BBQ's. He also enjoyed spending time restoring his old 1962 John Deere tractor.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Bonnie Redenius; children, Lorie (Richard) Robson and Troy (Christine) Redenius; grandchildren, Justin (Elishia) Robson, Erick (Mayu) Adachi-Robson, Preston Redenius, Logan Redenius, and Ashlyn Redenius; great-grandchildren, Lola Robson, Ruby Robson, Runo Adachi-Robson, and Miro Adachi-Robson; two sisters-in-law, Philicy Gene Redenius and Mary Kay Redenius; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Royal was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Redenius; two brothers, Edward Redenius and Harvey Redenius; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Beulah "Curly" Rabe; and a brother-in-law Duane Rabe.

Cards and memorials may be directed to Lakeview Funeral Home at 205 Albion Ave. Fairmont, MN 56031.
