NORTH MANKATO -- Paula Louise (Schoenrock) Thiede, 75, of North Mankato, Minn., passed away peacefully on Oct. 18, 2026. In accordance with Paula's wishes, a private graveside service will be held for immediate family at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
Paula was born on Nov. 21, 1950, in Winona, Minn., to Elton and Jean (Rosencranz) Schoenrock. She grew up in Mankato and graduated from Mankato High School in 1968. She went on to attend Mankato State College, earning her degree in 1971.
On July 7, 1983, Paula married William Thiede in Las Vegas, Nev. Together, they made their home in Fairmont and North Mankato, Minn. Paula devoted more than 30 years to teaching before retiring in 2006.
Paula loved traveling and exploring new places with her daughter, as well as sharing coffee shop outings with her husband. Earlier in life, she enjoyed riding horses and spent a memorable summer working at Yellowstone National Park. Paula's membership in the Order of the Eastern Star was a meaningful part of her life. More recently, she took pleasure in watching hummingbirds, spending time in the garden, and the companionship of her dog, Johnny.
Paula is survived by her husband, William Thiede of North Mankato, Minn.; her daughter, Nancy Thiede of St. Paul, Minn.; her brother, Allyn Schoenrock of North Mankato, Minn.; her sisters, Cynthia (Mike) Lyons of Madison Lake, Minn., and Kristen (Mark) Haack of North Mankato, Minn.; and her niece and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Jean Schoenrock; her husband's parents, Henry and Geraldine Thiede; and her aunts and uncles.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Paula's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
