ARMSTRONG -- Stacy Hanning, 57, of Armstrong, Iowa passed away at her home on August 31, 2026. A memorial service for Stacy will be held 11 am Friday, September 4, 2026, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 am until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Henry-Olson Funeral Home of Armstrong is assisting the family with arrangements.
Stacy Ranee (Miller) Hanning, daughter of Randall and Ardith (Meyer) Miller, was born March 5, 1969, in Estherville, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm north of Ringsted, a place she was incredibly proud to call home. Some of her happiest memories were made there--playing with cats, chickens, and pigs, riding motorcycles, three-wheelers and four-wheelers, and finding plenty of adventures in the everyday moments of farm life. Her home was always a place where people were welcome, and there was rarely a shortage of good food, laughter, and stories around the kitchen table.
Stacy was baptized and confirmed at the Ringsted Presbyterian Church. She attended Ringsted Elementary before attending Armstrong-Ringsted Middle and High Schools, graduating in 1987. After completion of Mcconnell Travel School, her adventurous spirit eventually took her to Texas and Arizona, she shortly returned to continue her career with Holiday Inn in Fairmont, Minnesota, where she worked for 16 years. Most recently, Stacy worked at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont, completing 20 years as the Environmental Services Manager.
Stacy married Terry Hanning on September 4, 1993. Together, they built a life and raised their family in Armstrong. Fittingly, September 4, 2026--the day family and friends gather to celebrate Stacy's life--is also their 33rd wedding anniversary.
Being a mom was one of the greatest joys of Stacy's life. She was incredibly proud of her children and their accomplishments and was always their biggest cheerleader. She celebrated their successes and took immense pride in the lives they were building. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and her greatest source of happiness.
And then came her grandchildren, who brought an entirely new kind of happiness to her heart. Stacy absolutely adored being a grandma. Although she was given only a short time in this role, she treasured every moment she had with them. Stacy filled their lives with love, laughter, hugs, and lots of holiday themed gift baskets. She was so proud to be their grandma and loved watching their little personalities grow. She will continue to love all of her grandchildren yet to come. Though she will not be here to meet them, they will grow up knowing about the grandma who loved them before they were ever born.
Stacy's life was full of interests, friendships, family traditions, and adventure. In her younger years, she was active in 4-H, basketball, volleyball, band, chorus, and art club. She loved getting together with her sisters and cousins, taking road trips, going on vacations, and saying yes to new adventures. From RAGBRAI to exploring National Parks, Stacy was happiest when she was making memories with the people she loved.
She also had a special love for her home and the outdoors. Her yard was always filled with beautiful perennial and annual flowers, carefully tended landscaping, and a garden that produced enough vegetables for a house of twenty. She could often be found in the backyard watching the birds and squirrels, tending to her flowers, sitting around a bonfire or simply enjoying the peacefulness around her.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, infectious joy, love of adventure, beautiful gardens, quick laugh, and, most of all, the love she poured into her family. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and countless people who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Stacy is survived by her husband, Terry Hanning; daughters, Shanee (Kyle) Vos of Slayton, Minn. and Shaylee (Joe) Dallager of Truman, Minn.; granddaughters, Evelyn and Frankie Vos, and Ivory and Isla Dallager; siblings, Susan (Derald) Mueller of Ringsted, Sally Smith of Fairmont, Minn., Scott (Lisa) Miller of Louden, Tenn. and Shawn Miller of Ringsted; her father-and mother-in-law, Gerald and Deb Hanning of Armstrong; sister-in-law, Tonya Hanning of Ringsted; her best friend and niece, Cami Paulson of Armstrong; as well as many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her beloved cats, Sailor and Sparky, who brought her endless companionship, comfort, and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ranny and Ardith Miller, and nephew, Terry Steinkuehler.
Stacy requests for everyone to feed the birds, to plant and enjoy watching the beautiful flowers, and TAKE THAT TRIP!
