FAIRMONT -- A Celebration of Life Gathering for Rhonaann "Rhona" G. Wallert, 77, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at the home of family, 202 Dresden Street, Ceylon, MN 56121. Rhona passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-St. Mary's Campus in Rochester, Minn. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Rhonaann Genevieve (Zobel) Wallert was born Nov. 29, 1948, in New Ulm, Minn., the daughter of Howard and Deloris (Konz) Zobel. Rhona grew up in New Ulm where she received her education and graduated from New Ulm High School.
Rhona was united in marriage to Gerard D. Wallert at the catholic church in New Ulm, Minn. The couple made their home in New Ulm and was blessed with two children, Jonathan and Annie.
Rhona and Gerard later divorced and in the late 90's, Rhona moved to Fairmont, Minn., to be closer to family. Rhona had a competitive spirit and was always willing to debate someone on their political views and challenging friends and family in answering questions on game shows. She loved football and looked forward to fall and both college and NFL teams. Her quiet time was spent crocheting and calling her daughter and sister multiple times a day to check in on them.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Annie Wallert; son, Jonathan Wallert; grandchildren, Brady (fiancé, Autumn) Wallert and Brianna (Samantha) Bauer; great-grandchildren, Feather Bauer, Moki Bauer, Izzabella Bauer, Patrick Bauer, Aurora and Oaklynn; sister, Rhonda (Gerald) Hatfield; one cousin, Genny Wendland; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Rhona was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Deloris Zobel; grandchildren, JaJa Hatfield, Brenna Hatfield, Brandin Hatfield and Melissa Wallert; two brothers, Pete Zobel and Roger Zobel; as well as other family.
