BRANDON, S.D. -- Judah Eliah Petersen, 32, of Brandon, S.D., passed away from natural causes due to a medical condition on Friday, July 31, 2026, at his home in Brandon. Visitation with the family present will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, at George Boom Funeral Home and On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls. A funeral service celebrating Judah’s life will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at Life Church in Sioux Falls with a lunch to follow. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Brandon Lutheran Cemetery in Brandon, SD. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Judah's children for future college expenses. https://www.ugift529.com Code: 42D-31V Judah Eliah Petersen was born on July 26, 1994, to Theresa Marie Schneider and Mark Philip Peters. Judah was the youngest of ten children and was deeply loved by his family. From an early age, he was known for his intelligence, articulate nature, curiosity, and outgoing personality. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people from every walk of life and enjoyed thoughtful conversations about faith, philosophy, politics, and life's deeper questions. His genuine love for others, quick wit, and compassionate heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Judah attended Saint James Lutheran School in Northrop, Minn., before continuing his education at Martin County West in Sherburn, Minn. After moving to South Dakota in 2011, he attended Southeast Technical Institute for a short time. After renovating a small school bus, Judah enjoyed traveling throughout the country, including trips to South Carolina and Florida with friends, and later fulfilled a dream of traveling to Europe. He also spent a short time living in Utah, where he made lasting memories exploring the mountains with his brother, Isaiah. Judah became a father in 2021, a role he treasured deeply. He later worked as a self-employed handyman, operating Total Home Care, where he faithfully served his community through his many practical talents, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others. He was everyone's biggest supporter and believed anyone could do anything they put their mind to. Anyone who knew him knew he gave the best hugs. He enjoyed listening to worship music, singing praises to God, hiking, running, swimming, photography, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Above all, Judah sought to pursue God faithfully and loved his children, Jeremiah Ezekiel Petersen, age 5, and Naveah Aurora Petersen, age 3, dearly. After surrendering his life to Christ, Judah devoted himself to a life of service. He became deeply involved at Life Church, which he lovingly called home, serving his church family in many different ways and inspiring many through the remarkable transformation of his life. Judah is survived by his parents, Theresa Schneider and Mark Peters; his children, Jeremiah Petersen and Naveah Petersen; his siblings: Amanda Monk, Sara Montgomery, Mary Monk, Heather (Dirk) Kvale, Jeremy (Angela) Peters, Malachi Smith (Tessa James), Esther (Chas) Zech, Hadassah (Erik) Burnison, and Isaiah Peters; and his many beloved nieces and nephews: Adam (Ashley), Miranda (Patrick), Wesley (Lacey), Wyatt (Jordan), Hannah, Benjamin (Cassandra), Caleb, Isaac (Makalah), Olivia, Alexis (Hunter), Angel, Seth, Mackenzie (Kaden), Sophie, Samuel, Alex, Kaiden, Adeline, Dayton, Miley, Isaac, Jonah, Emma, Oliver, Ezra, Elianna, Lillian, Jack, Jaelynn, and Kai; as well as 11 great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. Judah is also survived by five aunts, nine uncles, and many beloved cousins and second cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Rev. Philip Peters and Rev. Marilyn Peters; his maternal grandparents, David and Elizabeth Schneider; and his uncle, Rev. Samuel Schneider. Judah will be remembered for his courageous spirit, his generous heart, his deep love for his family and friends, his ability to make people laugh, his unwavering desire to grow, and the faith that became the foundation of his life. His legacy will continue through the countless lives he touched and through all who were blessed to know and love him.
