Betty J. Lyons
FAIRMONT — Funeral Service for Betty J. Lyons, age 79, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Waverly Lutheran Church, rural Trimont, Minn., with interment in Elm Creek Cemetery. Those wishing to view a live stream of the service may do so at Waverly Lutheran Church’s Facebook page. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, at the Lakeview Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Betty passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Betty June (Werner) Lyons was born on Aug. 16, 1946, in East Chain, Minn. at home. She was the daughter of Marvin and Hazel (Adams) Werner. Betty attended East Chain, Minn., public schools and graduated from East Chain High School in 1965.
Betty lived with her family in East Chain when she was younger. She later moved to Fairmont and then Truman before returning to Fairmont where she worked at Stokely’s, Pic Sweet, United Foods, and Kerry Ingredients. The most rewarding career for Betty was being a homemaker and raising her children which later became watching her grandchildren.
Betty enjoyed being outdoors while tending to her flower gardens and bird watching. She always looked forward to having coffee with her siblings as well as the many family suppers together. Betty most loved the time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren including putting puzzles together with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory include her children, Vicki Gilsrud, Chad Lyons, Lea (Michael) Silverthorn, and Dustin Lyons; grandchildren, Dalton Gilsrud, Whitney (Alex) Horner, Colby Lyons, Tyler Lyons, Cory Lyons, Carson Lyons, Brandi Moeckel, Brayden Moeckel, Alonna Silverthorn, Maverick Silverthorn, Lincoln Silverthorn, and Tristin Lyons; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Grace (Keith) Leibfried, Earl (Kathy) Werner, Art Werner, Otto Werner, and Joyce (Nick) Purdin; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, Marvin and Hazel Werner, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Lyons; and siblings, Rose (Mike) Miller, Harry Werner, Bob (Barb) Werner, and half-brother, Kenneth Potter.
