Jane Marie Mensch was born Jan. 24, 1940, to Russell and Lois (Grant) Gilmore of Winnebago, Minn.  Jane’s brother, John, was born two years later. Having been raised in a Christian home, Jane was taught the love of Christ and accepted Christ as her Savior when she was ten years old.

The family attended First Baptist Church in Winnebago until they moved to Fairmont, Minn. in 1950.  At Fairmont Baptist Church, Jane enjoyed participating in youth group, Sunday school and summer Bible camp.  Jane graduated from Fairmont High School in 1958 and then attended Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minn., majoring in Bible and Speech.  She and John went to the Martin County Fair, where she met Robert Mensch.  Soon Robert and Jane started dating and were married on Aug. 5, 1960.  Robert and Jane lived in Illinois, Oklahoma and then Kansas.  They were blessed with two daughters- myself, Karen and my sister, Susan.  Dad taught agricultural engineering at Kansas State University in Manhattan for six years.  Our family moved to Fairmont, Minn. in 1968.  Dad started his own agricultural engineering business.  Mom enjoyed being a homemaker and mom to us.  She sewed matching dresses for us and herself for special occasions.  Mom loved to bake and entertain family and friends. She volunteered at Central School and was a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher for many years at Fairmont Baptist Church where she was a member.  The biggest highlight for our family was the opportunity to live in the Republic of Singapore from 1977-1979 and again from 1980-1984.  Mom and Dad’s adventurous spirit opened up our world as we traveled to many other countries.  In Singapore, Mom enjoyed the shopping experience and cuisines from many cultures.  In our church there, Mom also taught Sunday school and was active in several Bible study groups.  Before our dad passed away in 2010, our parents were able to travel to Puerto Rico, Belize, Costa Rica and Mexico.

Mom loved being a grandma to Christina and Melinda, and a great-grandma to their children. She loved them so much and enjoyed their visits.

In 2023, Mom transitioned to Ingleside which is an assisted living facility and then to Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center.  She enjoyed her time at both places and made many friends.  Our family would like to thank the nurses, CNA’s and staff at Ingleside and Lakeview for the wonderful care and love they showed toward our mother.

Left to cherish Jane’s memory are: daughters Karen (Aldo) Senne of Welcome, Minn., and Susan Mensch of Fairmont, Minn.; granddaughters, Christina (Craig) Morris of Naples, Fla. and Melinda (Joe) Collins of Prior Lake, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Selah, Zion and Haven Morris; Sadie, Elliott and Liana Collins; brother, John Gilmore of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; sister-in-law, Rachel (Ken) Ellingson of Mahtomedi, Minn.; nephew, Jeff (Christine) Ellingson of Mahtomedi, Minn. and children, Hailey and Logan; and cousins.
