Ronald Joseph Svoboda was born Oct. 26, 1959, in Fairmont, Minn., twin son of Joseph J. and Marjorie A. (Mundy) Svoboda. As a young boy, Ronald grew up in Granada where he attended school and graduated from Granada-Huntley High School with the class of 1979.

Ron worked various jobs throughout his career but found his greatest passion helping farmers at Nutrien Ag Solutions in East Chain, Minn., where he worked for 25 years before his retirement in March 2025.

Ron enjoyed the simple things in life. He looked forward to warm summer days at the lake fishing and even enjoyed the brutal cold of a Minnesota winter and the opportunity to hit the frozen lakes while ice fishing. Ron’s love of the outdoors spilled over into the change of the season and the various hunting seasons that followed. He was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and had a special place in his heart for children, especially his nieces and nephews. Ron’s greatest joy was found in visiting with friends and family and serving his community as a past member of the Granada Fire Department.

Left to cherish his memory are his two brothers, Ray (Barb) Svoboda and Patrick Svoboda; nieces and nephews, Laura (Cameron) Adams, Kyle (Lauren) Svoboda, Anna (Nathan) Williams, Kasey Danbam, and Patrick Svoboda; as well as other extended family and friends.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marjorie Svoboda; brothers, Tom Svoboda and Paul Svoboda.
