David E. Riggs, son of David and Pearl (McFarland) Riggs, was born Aug. 19, 1930, at Ottumwa, Iowa. He graduated from Agency High School, Agency, Iowa and the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa.

He married Donna Wehner on May 20, 1972, at Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in several states, including Iowa, California, South Dakota, Nebraska, Arizona and Minnesota. Riggs was employed in the food industry for 45 years, holding various management positions, ending his career as manager of the Armour Processed Meat Facility in South San Francisco, Calif. He and his wife moved to Fairmont after retiring in 1992. He then kept active working as a customer service representative for United Express Airlines, department manager at Kmart and meat cutter at Hy-Vee market before final retirement in 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Donna of Fairmont; sons, David E. Riggs III of Philadelphia, Pa., Jeffrey M. Riggs and wife of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Craig Riggs of Daytona, Fla.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly J. Ruggles; niece, nephews and friends. Also surviving are stepchildren, Randy (Kathy) Strauser, Dan Strauser and Debra (fiancé, Harold) Goerndt.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons.
