Robert “Bob” J. Spencer
WELCOME — A Celebration of Life Visitation for Robert “Bob” J. Spencer, age 81, of Welcome, Minn., will be 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Kramer Funeral Home in Welcome, Minn. Military Honors will be provided by the Welcome American Legion Post 553. Bob passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Windom Good Samaritan Society. The Kramer Family Funeral Home of Trimont, Sherburn, and Welcome, Minn., is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Robert (Bob) Jerome Spencer was born in Corning, N.Y. on June 26, 1944, to Donald and Jean (Rogers) Spencer. He grew up in upstate New York and graduated from Ranger School and Syracuse University with a degree in Forestry. He enlisted in the US Navy, served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged.
Bob met and married Mary Lee Naumann on Aug. 31, 1970. To this union, four children were born, Carrie, Jessica, Amy, and Matthew. Bob and Mary lived on the east coast in the early years of their marriage and later moved to Calif. Bob and Mary Lee divorced but remained life-long friends. Mary Lee passed in July of 2021.
Bob loved kids and horses and was always very involved with both. He always volunteered to be a chaperone for his children’s school and church activities. He was a scout master and leader. He worked for several ranches, guiding trail rides, wagon rides, and pony rings. In his later years, he ran the bait shop in Fox Lake Village (Welcome).
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Carrie, Jessica (Eric), Amy (Richard), and Matthew; Eight grandchildren, Cason (CarolAnn), Nick (Tiffani), Caitlin, Levi, Jerome, Morgyn, Ella, and Clayton; Three great grandchildren, Cashel, Kinsley, and Spencer; Sister, Bonnie Garrison; and Brother, Larry (Rosemary) Spencer; Nephews, Kevin (Diane), Randy, and Cory (Sara); Great nephews, Brandon, Chase, Daniel, and Brock; and other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Jean; and brother-in-law, Donald Garrison.
