Marilyn “Mollie” (Lloyd) Wolter was born April 25, 1936, in Mitchell, S.D., the daughter of Raymond G. and Zella M. (O’Neill) Lloyd. As a young girl, Mollie moved with her family to Fairmont where she attended school and graduated from Fairmont High School with the class of 1954.
On Dec. 15, 1956, Mollie was united in marriage to Dean E. Wolter in Fairmont, Minn. The couple made their home in Fairmont and were blessed with four sons, Kevin, Scott, Timothy, and Christian.
Mollie worked at the Fairmont Community Hospital. Mollie and Dean later purchased the Maple Leaf Resort on Leech Lake and operated the resort until 1981. Mollie loved caring for people and continued her work at the hospital working as a nurse’s aid and unit secretary until her retirement in 2010.
Mollie loved the outdoors and could often be found working in her yard and attempting various home repair projects. She found great joy in caring for others, and it shined through with her work at the hospital. Mollie was an incredibly proud grandma and cherished spending time with grandchildren during sleepovers and treasured memories made with them during trips to Alaska to see family. Faith was an important part of Mollie’s life and in addition to being a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, she served her church in many various roles throughout the years.
