Mary M. Garbers
FAIRMONT — A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary M. Garbers, 95, of Fairmont, Minn. and formerly of Welcome, Minn. will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Burial will be held at Welcome City Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Those wishing to view the service may do so by going to the St. John Vianney Church Facebook page. Mary passed away on Sunday morning, April 12, 2026, at Goldfinch Memory Care in Fairmont. The Kramer Family Funeral Home of Sherburn, Trimont and Welcome, Minn. are in care of Mary’s arrangements.
Mary Margaret Garbers was born on Aug. 3, 1930, to Joseph and Anna (Weber) Maday in Silver Lake Township, Minn. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1948.
On Nov. 18, 1958, Mary was united in marriage to Donald Garbers at St. John Vianney Rectory in Fairmont. This marriage was blessed with two children, John and Ann. After their marriage they farmed in Fraser Township by Welcome until 1987 when they moved into Welcome. Mary worked at the Welcome School as a Head Cook from 1976 until 1992. Most recently, Mary resided at Goldfinch Memory Care.
Mary was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. The Martin County Fair was always a highlight for many years, where Mary worked with the produce and antiques in the Open Class. She enjoyed playing cards and embroidering, where she took pride in making sure everyone got a set of her embroidered towels. Most of all, Mary loved spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, John (Rita) Garbers of Welcome; daughter, Ann (Kevin) Maslakow of Mapleton; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Krista (Jeff) Coners of Welcome, Shawna (Jackson) Kinney and their children, Nora and Foster of Fairmont, Alex (Liz) Maslakow and their son, Henry of Eagan, and Sara (Mitch) Skluzacek and their children, Isaac and Radek of North Mankato; brother, Larry (Emily) Maday of Penn Valley, Calif.; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Garbers; parents, Joseph and Anna Maday; brothers, Harold (Mickey) Maday, Donald (Grace) Maday, Louis (Marvis) Maday, James (Terri) Maday and infant brother Robert Maday; sister, Eileen (LeRoy) Sager and Lillian Maday; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Lou (Floyd) Buckmeier.
