Jean Marie Origer
FAIRMONT — Jean Marie Origer, 90, of Fairmont, Minn., passed away on Sunday morning, April 12, 2026.
Visitation will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, Minn. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. The service will be officiated by Father Timothy Welch. Interment at Calvary Cemetery will follow the service, after which a luncheon will be held at the funeral home.
Jean was born on Dec. 14, 1935, in Emmetsburg, Iowa to George and Lois (Conner) Thompson. She attended school in Graettinger, Iowa. She was married to Paul Origer on Aug. 25, 1956 and the newlyweds made their home in Estherville, Iowa, until Paul’s job took them to Grinnell, Iowa, and eventually Fairmont, Minn. in 1977. In Fairmont, Jean worked for Baarts Trucking until her retirement in 2005.
Jean and Paul raised four children. She participated in St Michael’s Guild and Quilters Guild. Jean was an extraordinary baker and cook, as well as very skilled with her needle and thread. In the last few years, Jean was in multiple bridge groups. Those friends, as well as lifelong friends from high school days, were very dear to her.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Paul, son Douglas, her parents, two sisters, and three nephews. She is survived by three children, Mike (Mary), Tony (Kris), Kelly; daughter-in-law Vana; brother Huey (Virginia) Thompson; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Jean’s family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to St Croix Hospice and the caregivers at the Armstrong facility who assisted Jean, initially in rehab and later making her stay there feel like home. She loved everyone there.
Memorials are preferred to CREST in Fairmont.
The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
