Robert “Bob” F. Kloeckner

FAIRMONT — A celebration of life service for Robert “Bob” F. Kloeckner, 91, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont with burial held in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont and will continue one hour prior to the time of service at the church. Bob passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at Goldfinch Memory Care in Fairmont, Minn. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Robert F. Kloeckner was born Sept. 2, 1934, to Claus and Frieda Kloeckner in Fairmont, Minn. He graduated from Fairmont High school with the class of 1952. Robert attended Carlton College for two years and graduated from Minnesota School of Business.

On March 12, 1955, Robert was united in marriage to Kay Hicks in Minneapolis, Minn. They had five children Karin, David, Tom, Susan, and James.

He began his business career working at Archer Daniels Midland in St Paul. In 1956, he returned to Fairmont to join his father at Park Motor Company (now Fairmont Ford).

Bob was active on several automobile and Ford Dealer Boards including Minnesota Auto Dealer Association, MADA Insurance Board, and Ford Dealers Advertising Fund.

He was a member of the Jaycees and the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. He enjoyed watching Minnesota Gophers sports, the Vikings and many rounds of golf with family and friends at Interlaken Golf Club. Bob and Kay enjoyed traveling, camping and Dixieland music. Together, they spent many winters in Panama City Beach, Fla. Bob loved picnics and through the years, he and Kay had many picnic lunches at the many city parks throughout Fairmont.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 70 years, Kay; four children, Karin (Ed) Bulfer, David (Beth) Kloeckner, Tom (Ann) Kloeckner and James (Kathy) Kloeckner; son-in-law, Rod Nelson; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; sister, Marian Bahr; brother-in-law, Jack Schultz; as well as many other extended family and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Claus and Frieda Kloeckner; in-laws, Lester and Honora Hicks; daughter, Susan Nelson; grandson, Nickolas Nelson; sister, Helen Schultz; sister-in-law, Joan Hicks; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Bahr.
