Geraldine Senne

JACKSON — A Celebration of Life Service for Geraldine Senne, age 93, of Jackson, will be held at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center of Jackson, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2 p.m., with a time of visitation and gathering following the service from 2:30 to 5 p.m.

Geraldine Jeanette Senne (Abel/Meyer) was born on June 21, 1932, to John and Alice Abel on a farm south of Welcome, Minn. She received her early education at School District #90 in rural Welcome, completing the eighth grade. Geraldine was a devoted member of the United Church of Christ in Welcome, where she attended Sunday School, and was baptized and confirmed. She was also active in the Birthday Club, Ladies Aid, and sang in the church choir.

On Sept. 25, 1949, Geraldine was united in marriage to Martin Meyer in Welcome, Minn. Together, they were blessed with two children, Steven and Bernice. They farmed south of Welcome for 13 years before moving to rural Odin, Minn., where they continued farming for the next 40 years. Geraldine was a dedicated homemaker who took great pride in caring for her family and home.

She enjoyed a wide range of hobbies, including bowling, gardening, mowing the lawn, painting, dancing, playing cards and cribbage, and working on word circle books. She especially cherished time spent babysitting her grandchildren during the summers, and later, her great-grandchildren. Geraldine was known for being intuitive, tenacious, and self-aware. In her free time, she enjoyed watching Western movies, The Big Joe Polka Show, Police Academy, and The Princess Diaries 1 & 2, as well as listening to Daniel O’Donnell and his music.

In 2002, Geraldine and Martin retired to Bingham Lake, Minn.. After 57 years of marriage, Martin passed away in 2006. Geraldine remained in their home for six years before finding love again. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Senne on Feb. 14, 2012, and the couple made their home in Spencer, Iowa. There, Geraldine formed many friendships and became an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church and its Ladies Guild, where members sewed blankets, bags, and dresses for those in need around the world.

Geraldine remained with Lloyd until his passing in 2021. She later moved to Jackson, Minn., to live with her daughter. Geraldine passed away on April 3, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society of Jackson at the age of 93.

Geraldine is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Bernice Fife (Terry) of Jackson, Minn.; her grandchildren, Jowayne Olson of Mankato, Minn.; Tonia Kopplin (Shawn) of Brookings, South Dakota; Chad Meyer (Tammy) of Windom, Minn.; Jamie Anderson (Craig Ruden) of Windom, Minn.; Jeremy Meyer (Amanda) of Nicollet, Minn.; Monica Meyer of Nicollet, Minn.; and Mallory Jones (Ben) of Mankato, Minn.; as well as 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice Abel; her husbands, Martin Meyer and Lloyd Senne; her son, Steven Meyer; and her granddaughter, Brenda Heern Hampson.
