Dorothy E. Anderst

FAIRMONT — Funeral services for Dorothy E. Anderst, 103, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Minn. Burial will be held in Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Dorothy passed away Monday evening, March 23, 2026, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Dorothy Elizabeth (Schwieger) Anderst was born on Feb. 23, 1923, to Theodore and Lena (Roth) Schwieger in rural Fairmont. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Parochial school for eight years.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Roland Anderst on Jan. 6, 1946. They farmed for many years until they retired to the Belle Vue Estates. Dorothy enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and watching sports.

Dorothy was an active lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, greeter, was a member of the Women of Immanuel Group, and the Sew Blessed quilters group.

Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Leann Freiburger and her husband, Art of Orlando, Fla.; and Cheryl Strande and her husband, Larry of Rochester, Minn.; former son-in-law, Ron Durst and his wife, Lois Burdick of Mantorville, Minn.; three grandchildren, Kristi Freiburger of Orlando, Fla., Elizabeth Durst of Seattle, Wash., and Jonathan Durst and his wife, Meaghan of Greenville, S.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Owen Durst and Lily Durst of Greenville, SC. Dorothy is also survived by two sisters, Eunice Day of Fresno, Calif., and Marcy Griffith (Dan) of Eden Prairie, Minn.; one sister-in-law, Doris Schwieger of Sherburn, Minn.; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by the following: husband, Roland; daughter, Marsha Durst; brothers and sisters-in-law, Milton and Erline Schwieger, Lynn and Devy Schwieger, Delbert and Ruth Schwieger, Gary and Marian Schwieger, and Jim Schwieger; sisters and brothers-in-law, Luverna and Wilbert Hartmann, Lois and Don Swenson, and Mary and Don Armbrust; two brothers-in-law, Orland Day and Arnold Anderst and his wife, Arlene; sister-in-law, Dolores Anderst; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Alma Anderst; as well as other extended family.
