David C. Henry
GRANADA — A Celebration of Life Visitation for David C. Henry, 81, of Granada, Minn., will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Military honors provided by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222 will be held at 5 p.m. outside the funeral home. Following military honors a private family graveside service will be held at Center Creek Cemetery in rural Granada. David passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Heartland Senior Living in Truman, Minn. surrounded by his family. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.
David Claude Henry was born on March 24, 1945, to Claude and Lois (Crawford) Henry in Fairmont, Minn. He graduated from Granada High School and then attended Worthington Junior College and the University of Minnesota. David enlisted in the United States Army on Oct. 18, 1967, and served until being honorably discharged on Nov. 15, 1967.
David was united in marriage to Karen Eastvold on Oct. 9, 1965, in Winnebago, Minn. They were blessed with one son, David Henry.
On June 17, 1978, David was united in marriage to Linda Guse in Roseville, Minn. They were blessed with two children, Rebecca and Robert. David and Linda lived in Maplewood, Minn. from 1978 to 1979 and then moved to Fairmont from 1979 to 1981 before moving to Granada, where they made their home for many years. David worked at several places throughout his life including JC Penney’s Automotive, Good Wheel Auto, ITCO Farm Services, Martin County Courthouse and the most recent before retiring in August of 2010 at Prairieland Compost.
David loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and going on family fishing trips at Bowstring Lake. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was known by his grandchildren as “Papa.”
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Linda Henry of Granada, Minn.; children, David (Kari) Henry of Prior Lake, Minn., Rebecca Henry (Gary Shumski) of Rapid City, S.D., and Robert Henry (fianceé, Chris Larson) of Fairmont, Minn.; grandchildren, Morgan (Connor) Garry, Brooke Grathwohl, Kaitlyn Henry, Hunter Grathwohl, Brody Grathwohl, Abby Henry, Jacob Henry, Brett Tietema, and Kaylee Larson; great-grandchildren, Bennett Henry, Lakyn Garry, Curtis Garry, Olivia Tietema and Addisyn Tietema; brothers, Doug Henry and Bruce (Marilyn) Henry; sister, Margaret (Harold) Hartung; brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane (Sherry) Guse, Duane (Susan) Newham, Bill (Cindy) Robins and Sandy Dorshak; special family friends, DeWane and Jeanne Mortensen; nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Lois Henry; sister, Kathryn Henry; parents-in-law, Norman and Viola Guse; sister-in-law, Sandee Guse; and special family friend, Ryan Mortensen.
David was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
