Delores M. Armstrong
HANSKA — Delores M. Armstrong, age 84, of Hanska, died Friday, March 20, 2026, at Living Meadows in Madelia.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hanska, with Pastor Ben Hilding officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Hanska.
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, prior to the service at the church.
Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of New Ulm are assisting the family.

Delores Mae Garbers was born on May 4, 1941, to Walter and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Diekmann) Garbers at home in Westford Township, rural Truman, Minn., where she was also baptized on May 24, 1946. She started school in District 74 in rural Truman and moved in 1950 to District 86 in rural Sherburn, Minn. Due to consolidation, she entered Sherburn Public Schools in 1952. Delores was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sherburn on April 11, 1954. She graduated from Sherburn High School in 1959.
Delores provided home care for her mom until 1967. She babysat and cleaned house for Cameron and Faye Evjen and waitressed at the E & L Café in Sherburn until 1966. In 1967, she was hired as the first office secretary at St. John’s Lutheran Church and remained there until 1976.
On Aug. 20, 1976, she married JeRay Terrance Armstrong at St. John’s Lutheran Church. They owned and operated a small dairy and grain farm outside of Hanska, Minn. Delores and JeRay loved dancing and went to many dances at Fox Lake Ballroom in Sherburn. In addition to assisting with the farm operation, she was a dedicated homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening (including canning and freezing the produce), and working with flowers. Delores also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and going to parades and fairs. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and volunteered in many different capacities at the church throughout the years.
Delores is survived by her brother, Marvin (Roberta) Garbers; sister-in-law, Marjorie Weiske; nieces and nephews, Brenda (David) Lovhaug, Marla (Cliff) Anderson, Lisa Weiske, Michael (Lisa) Weiske, Daniel (Kerry) Weiske, David (Sarah) Weiske, and Tammi (Todd) Nelson; great and great-great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, JeRay; parents, Walter and Wilhelmina (Minnie) Garbers; her father and mother-in-law, Jesse and Thelma Armstrong; brother, Melvin Garbers; brothers-in-law, LaVon Armstrong and Kenneth Weiske; niece, Deanna Garbers; great nieces, Laura Lovhaug, Ashley Weiske, and Ana Nelson; and other relatives.
Memorials are preferred to Ecumen Hospice, Living Meadows, or Zion Lutheran Church.
